Gleicher started his career in the entertainment industry as a visual artist in the arena of animation, film and video.
In the seventies, Gleicher was a still photographer for Epic Records and an art director for a national advertising agency working on commercials for accounts such as Toys ‘R’ Us and Sportmart. Gleicher gained experience in live action films as a cameraman for NBA Films and Britannica Films. He then started his own advertising agencies in Chicago and Cincinnati producing over 25 television commercials in addition to an 18-minute animated film for The United Way.
In the late seventies, Gleicher produced and directed one of the first multi-camera music videos. In 1979, he produced three music videos for the rock group Rush. Throughout the eighties, Gleicher was a promotions and marketing director on the national and regional levels for such companies as Mercury Records, Elektra, PolyGram Records, and the David Geffen Company, and for two years ran his own national promotion company with accounts including Warner Brothers, Atlantic, A & M, and Capitol.
The nineties saw Gleicher as President of Smash/Island Records, an international repertoire center based in Chicago. It was during his tenure with Smash that Gleicher once again began producing and directing visual media with four music videos.
